Conference Summary ![]()
The 17th Joint Annual Conference of CSCST-SCI, co-organized by the University of Oxford, CSCST-UK (the Chinese Society of Chemical Science and Technology in the UK) and SCI-CS (the Society of Chemical Industry, Chinese UK Group), was successfully held in Oxford. The Conference was kindly supported by the Education Section and the Science & Technology Section of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, and SCICS. The conference chairs were Prof. Zhanfeng Cui and Dr. Zheng Jiang. The theme of the 17th CSCST conference was Chemical Science & Technology towards a Low-Carbon Economy. More than 140 researchers registered for the Conference and approximately 180 people from academic and industrial institutions attended the Conference. Encouraged by the success of the previous joint conferences organized by the Chinese Society of Chemical Science and Technology (CSCST-UK), and the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), the 17th CSCST-SCI conference will be held in the University of Oxford on 9th October, 2010, with the theme Chemical Science & Technology towards a Low-Carbon Economy.
This annual conference aims to bring together scholars in the broad chemistry and chemicals-related fields from the UK, China and else of the world, to provide a platform for exchange of research ideas, progress and initiation of collaborations.
Selected papers for this conference will be recommended to in the special issue of Particuology for publication, subjecting to the normal peer review process. Complying with the exclusive publication rules, we will also arrange focus sections for specific topics on Journal of Environmental Sciences or Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology. Please submit an A4-size abstract (abstract template) to cscstuk@googlemail.com as an attachement. Please also indicate in the email your preferred type of presentation (oral or poster) and your personal information. Detailed requirements can be found here.

Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires, is famous the world over for its University and place in history. For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars, and since the 9th century an established town, although people are known to have lived in the area for thousands of years.
Nowadays, the city is a bustling cosmopolitan town. Still with its ancient University, but home also to a growing hi-tech community. Many businesses are located in and around the town, whether on one of the Science and Business Parks or within one of a number of residential areas.
With its mix of ancient and modern, there is plenty for both the tourist and resident to do. Whether its visiting one of the many historic buildings, colleges or museums, going out for a drink or a meal, taking in a show or shopping till you drop, Oxford has it all!
